HIV Tropism Testing
Monogram’s HIV Trofile™ Test – a companion diagnostic for Pfizer’s Celsentri™ and other HIV entry-inhibitor drugs
The Trofile™ Test is a new companion diagnostic used in the patient selection process for Pfizer’s new antiretroviral treatment for HIV, Celsentri™. Monogram’s HIV Trofile™ assay is only available through Lab21 in the UK and Ireland.
Celsentri™ is the first in its class of new HIV entry inhibitors, HIV patients should be pre-screened for the “tropism” of their virus prior to initiation of therapy. Monogram’s Trofile™ assay is the only clinically validated way to determine this.
The test establishes which co-receptor a person’s HIV uses, and therefore whether maraviroc (Celsentri™, Pfizer) and similar drugs are likely to work for that individual.
Lab21 ensures that samples are properly collected and rapidly transported to testing facilities at Monogram’s laboratory in South San Francisco. Lab21 facilitates the reporting of results to the clinic as efficiently as possible, and ensures that Trofile™ is available for patients across the UK and Ireland.
