Lab21 Expands International Business with Lauch into India with a Million Dollar Syphilis Testing Agreement
Cambridge, 7 Nov 2008 …Lab21 is pleased to announce that its Immunodiagnostic Division, (formerly Newmarket Laboratories) has entered into a substantial distribution agreement with Inverness Medical India (Spectral Diagnostics Pvt. Ltd) to supply more than 500,000 TPHA kits for the diagnosis of syphilis. This initial contract will see approximately 1.1 million US dollars of reagents supplied into the Indian healthcare market over the next 18 months.
Dr. Tony Cooke General Manager of the Immunodiagnostics Division said, “Lab21 is expanding its international distributor network to supply infectious disease immunodiagnostic test kits to new and emerging markets. India is the first of a number of new territory launches planned during the next 12 months. Spectral Diagnostics, our distribution partner in India, has an excellent reputation and infrastructure to support Lab21 in this important and growing region. ”
Mr Chawal of Spectral Diagnostics said, “We are delighted to be working with Lab21, they have a very strong reputation for high quality products in the field of immunodiagnostics and we are pleased to have secured the rights to distribute their catalogue of test kits and reagents.”
Graham Mullis, CEO of Lab21 commented; “An important part of Lab21’s plans is to launch the current gold standard immunodiagnostic test kits and reagents into a number of new countries, once registration approvals have been secured and the right distribution partners have been identified. Lab21 will expand its product portfolio during 2009 as new immunodiagnostic tests and associated reagents become available through our R&D efforts.
