Streptococcal grouping latex kit: is for the identificiation of Lancefield's groups A, B, C, D, F and G by agglutination of specific antibody-coated latex particles in the presence of enzymatically extracted antigen. Streptococci carry group specific carbohydrate antigens in their cell walls. After extraction by a specially developed enzyme preparation these antigens will agglutinate latex particles coated with the corresponding antibody. The latex remains in smooth suspension in the absence of group specific antigen.
E coli test kit: is a latex agglutination test for the rapid identification of E coli Serogroup 0157. The test is best used in conjunction with Sorbitol MacConkey Agar. E coli 0157 strains cannot ferment sorbitol and will therefore give colourless colonies. The majority of other E coli strains are capable of fermenting Sorbitol and therefore give characteristic pink colonies. Sorbitol MacConkey Agar can therefore be used as a primary screening method, and only non-sorbitol fermenting (NSF) colonies tested by the latex agglutination method.
Staphyloccocal Latex Test kit: is intended for the identification of isolated staphylococci colonies grown as pure cultures on plates that produce clumping factor and/or protein A. The Lab21 test reagent contains micro-fine latex suspensions coated with human plasma proteins (fibrinogen and IgG) and/or bovine serum albumin. To improve the specificity of the test, a control reagent which is latex particles that are not coated with either fibrinogen or human IgG is provided in the test kit.
