Diabetes
Intact Proinsulin EIA: is a two-site enzyme-immunoassay (EIA), employing a specific solid phase antibody immobilised on microtitre wells and a soluble antibody labelled with biotin. With results in 4 hours, the assay is easy to use and features high specificity (no cross reactivity with split proinsulins, insulin or c-peptide) and sensitivity, with a limit of detection of 0.3 pmol/L. The Lab21 assay utilises monoclonal antibodies to minimise the cross reactivity with split proinsulins that other assay have historically suffered with.
Intact Proinsulin CLIA: a chemiluminecent test for the quantification of the major precursor molecules (intact proinsulin, 31-32, 32-33, 64-65 and 65-66 split proinsulins) produced during insulin biosynthesis in the blood. In patients with type 2 diabetes, relatively greater proportions of intact proinsulin, 32-33 split proinsulin and des 31-32 split proinsulin find their way into peripheral blood. Only small amount of unmodified proinsulin finds its way into the circulation in normal subjects.

C-Peptide CLIA: a two-site immunoassay, employing a C-peptide-specific solid phase antibody immobilised on microtitre wells, and a soluble antibody labelled with a chemiluminescent acridinium ester. With results in under 3 hours, the assay is easy to use and features high specificity (negligible cross reactivity with insulin (0%) or c-peptide (2%)), a high sensitivity (5 pmol/L) and a wide working range, 0-6000 pmol/L, reducing the need for regular sample dilution.
Insulin CLIA: a two-site immunoassay, employing an insulin-specific solid phase antibody immobilised on microtitre wells, and a soluble antibody labelled with a chemiluminescent acridinium ester. With results in under 3 hours, the assay is easy to use and features high specificity (negligible cross reactivity with intact proinsulin, 32-33 split proinsulin and des 31-32 split proinsulin) making it ideal for determining HOMA scores. Therapeutic insulin analogues can be measured using this assay.
