Lab21 is a global provider of state-of-the-art diagnostic products and services, supporting diagnostic and screening laboratories, medical diagnostics and drug discovery. Customers include international healthcare providers, as well as pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

The Diagnostic Products division supplies diagnostic kits and reagents that are distributed into over 115 countries globally, focusing on infectious diseases for blood donor screening and routine clinical markets. The company is the leading provider of syphilis tests to national blood supply services throughout Europe and is also a major provider of malaria tests, enabling blood services to maintain high donor numbers.  

During 2010, Lab21 has expanded the availability of its market leading blood bank screening range of diagnostic assays, by securing a 510(k) clearance in the US for the Syphilis TPHA PK Assay. This is the first of a number of FDA approvals that will be sought during 2010 and 2011 as the division looks to expand its distribution presence in the world’s largest diagnostic market.

The company continues to utilise it's expertise in developing screening assays by launching two new CE marked Cytomegalovirus (CMV) assays during 2010. The first is a total antibody EIA for use both manually and on open automated platforms; the second a Haemagglutination (HA) kit, which has been formatted to run on both the Beckman Coulter PK7200 and 7300 platforms. Further new product launches are expected during 2011.

Lab21's corporate office is based in Cambridge with additional UK manufacturing sites in both Newmarket and Bridport.
