COLARIS® AND COLARIS AP®
OverviewHow to Order
Tests to diagnose hereditary colorectal cancer syndromes

COLARIS® assesses an individual's risk of developing colorectal, endometrial and other related cancers based on the detection of mutations in the MLH1, MSH2, and MSH6 genes. This hereditary cancer syndrome is known as Hereditary Nonpolyposis Colorectal Cancer (HNPCC, or Lynch syndrome).

COLARIS AP® assesses an individual's risk of developing colorectal polyps and cancer based on detection of mutations in the APC and MYH genes. These hereditary cancer syndromes are known as familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP/AFAP) and MYH – associated polyposis (MAP).

Why choose COLARIS® or COLARIS AP® testing?

COLARIS® & COLARIS AP® genetic testing enables the Clinician to:
  • Take a proactive management approach with clearly identified at-risk patients
  • Avoid unnecessary interventions in family members who have not inherited a known familial mutation
  • Target increased surveillance and other interventions to individuals with a mutation – maximising patient care while increasing clinical efficiency
  • Counsel patients and family members on the underlying cause of cancer, in the case of a positive result
  • Significantly improve patient outcomes
Who should be tested?

Candidates for HNPCC testing with COLARIS® include individuals with personal or family history of:
  • Colorectal cancer before the age of 50
  • Endometrial cancer before the age of 50
  • 2 or more cases of HNPCC cancer in the family including colorectal, endometrial, ovarian and stomach cancers
Candidates for FAP/AFAP/MAP testing with COLARIS AP® include individuals with personal or family history of
  • 10 or more cumulative colorectal adenomas
  • And/or colorectal cancer before the age of 50
