Virco®TYPE HIV-1 Drug Resistance Testing
For HIV-1 drug resistance Virco®TYPE HIV-1 is a clinically validated HIV-1 resistance test performed on plasma samples. Virco®TYPE HIV-1 combines genotype and phenotype with additional clinical information, all in one easy-to-use report.
Genotypic information provided by the test
- Drug resistance – associated mutations in the protease and reverse transcriptase genes in viral genes, grouped by drug class (NRTI/NtRI, NNRTI and PI)
- A list of all differences from the reference wild type HXB2 virus
Phenotypic information provided by the testVirco®TYPE HIV-1 is the first HIV-1 drug resistance test using internationally agreed Clinical Cut-Off Values (CCOs). Based on the viral genotype, the test predicts:
- Resistance to HIV drugs
- Cross resistance

To request virco®TYPE HIV-1 testing:
The same sample and Test Request Form can be used for HIV-1 Tropism by Genotype testing. The test results will be sent to you within 14 working days of sample receipt at Lab21.
To request a test, you need to have an account with Lab21. If you are a new customer, please fill in the Lab21 Account Set-Up form and email it to Lab21 Customer Services on info@lab21.com to open an account.
